Years ago our family got our first dog ever. When we picked her up, we struggled with what to call her. After a few hours of throwing out ideas, we were snacking on the famous Toll House Cookies and milk and it came to us. Our dog has the same color as our cookies and therefore she was named "Cookie". We giggle every time we tell the story to people who ask us how our dog got her name.

My brother had a dog that had a "thing" for butter.  No matter where you put it in the kitchen to soften he would find it.  The dog was a German Short Haired Pointer and we found out he could reach the back of the stove so the butter was safe nowhere on a counter or on the stove.  Whenever I made cookies I had to butter in the cabinet to let it soften.

That's a cute story ..... Thanks.

I carried two tiny kitties home from the humane society and tried to find the right name.  Peaches was easy - she's a little sweetie.
The other one .... whew .... the day he moved in I started screaming, "No, bad cat, stop.  Bad cat, no, no, you can't do that Bad cat!!!"
His name became Badcat.............  He's still a big monster that gets called bad cat all day long.   I love him.

I like it when the new pet tell you their name.  My first cat was Squeaky...because she squeaked instead of meowing.  My next cat was Fearless... he was the bravest cat you ever saw.  I inherited Fuzzy.  AKA Monster!  There is one in every crowd!  I am down to one now that my husband brought in.  Slasher - he calles her Calico... unless she is annoying him.  But she is a Slasher if I ever saw one!  LOL

Darling stories.  I just love the originality of Badcat!  Too funny.

When I brought home my Jack Russell, my son, Christopher, thought since he was an Irish dog, He should have an Irish name.  We could have looked on the internet for choices but he suggested Collin and I said what about Bailey's Irish Creme?  He liked that too, so that is how he was named "Bailey".  We never thought long or hard about it!

Slasher has failed at all her cat skills except "claws".  Yesterday the man came to fix my dryer and discovered a MOUSE living in the vent thing.  Now, what kind of self-respecting cat would allow a mouse to live in the same house!!!!  I was shocked.

I can certainly see how Badcat would be a good name for a cat too.  I have had some who lived to get into trouble.

lol lol lol ..... Oh, Patm that's so funny.  Peaches thinks her big enemy/dear friend is a  pillow that came in a cat sleeper thingy that cost a small fortune.
She never, ever sleeps in it but pulls out the pillow and carries it around the condo .... tail up she pulls that pillow around.  I think it weighs as much as she does.

My sister has cats, too.  2 mice managed to get into her garage behind the washer & dryer.  She caught them.  She tried showing them to her indoor cats, who had no idea what they were or what to do with them.  She took the mice outdoors to the feral cats, who certainly knew what to do with those mice.

My sister's 3rd cat was named Kirby.  When he was brought home from the SPCA, he was so hungry that he sucked up the food, just like a vacuum cleaner.  And, that's how he got his name - for the Kirby vacuum cleaner.  Then there was her first cat, Kitty.  My sister couldn't ever think of a name, so Kitty stuck.
