Hey everyone! Here's a little background to my story, I am 27, and I have no children, but I have 3 dogs that I consider my kids. So, it was January 1st, which is my middle dog Bizzy's birthday. She was turning 4 this past New Years day. I decided to go ALL out and bake and decorate the most spectacular cake ever. I had gotten a recipie complete with step by step instructional pictures to make a princess castle cake. It was tiered, it was multi colored, it was AMAZING! Now, the whole time I was mixing and decorating I had been inviting Bizzy to stand against the table I was working on, and have little licks and tastes of cake and frosting, (not the healthiest thing for dogs, I know! But their only spoiled like that on their birthdays!) Bizzy was thrilled to be invited to break the rules and eat off the table, (she is very well behaved, and never would have done that if I hadnt let her.) Anyway, the cake was finally done, and it was the best I've ever made, or seen up close if I do say so myself! I was finally able to leave the kitchen. You see, my finace and I had invited a bunch of people over for a birthday/New Year party. The cake was the main attraction. I had it set up on a stand on the table in the kitchen. I went to go let everyone know that desert was about to be served and to get my fiance and the camera. Well... about 5 minutes later we walked into the kitchen. Let me explain what I saw... Frosting everywhere... Cake bits everywhere... One of the sugar cones I had used as a castle tower crushed on the floor... And in the middle of it all, my sweet Pit Bull Bizzy, looking at me with puppy dog eyes filled with innocence, absolutely covered in pink icing and sugar sprinkles, and I mean, it was on her face, her paws, she even had a gum drop stuck to her back! (Who know's how that got there) I guess she was so excited about me letting her break the rules, that when I walked away from the cake she thought I was leaving her alone to indulge in a yummy treat. Well, our gasps and eventual laughter brought everyone into the kitchen, and all of our friends and family saw Bizzy, (still in her party hat, I forgot to mention), and the destroyed cake. It seemed the spirit of love and laughter was in the air, because almost everyone just grabbed a fork and tried to find a section that Bizzy hadnt 'sampled' yet. I think I realized then that baking isnt just about how the finished product looks, it's about the love you have when your handling the ingredients, and you know what, everyone agreed that this particular cake was the best they'd ever had!

Your cake disaster turned out into a party that no one will ever forget. Everyone got to enjoy your cake, perfect or not, especially Bizzy. LOL

Very funny but I can just imagine my Chow mix in that situation and she has such big chocolate brown eyes and can really make them say "I'm Sorry" and "Just Love Me." Hard to scold when they look so innocent. I am sure great memories

Great story! I sure wish you'd included a couple pictures....the cake prior to Bizzy's sampling it and what it looked like afterwards. That'd be neat to see!
