I usually boil mine in water and add black pepper, butter, salt and sugar.  Sometimes after I boil it for a little while them put on grill for awhile. Either way is good.

I  put a pot of water on to boil; Meanwhile I shuck& de-silk2  just picked cobs (  1 pp).As soon as the water is boiling; in goes the cobs, to boils; but only just til hot through & through.I only buyjustpickedcornw/ small tender kernels so no long time boiling is needed to tenderize. Remove & drain cobs & serve w/butter. S&P optionalUndecided
On too hot to boil water days;I use my covered microwave divided veggie dish. 2 cleaned cobs go in w/ 1/2" water.Cover & microwave the 2 ears for 3-4 minutes, till  just  heated  through;remove, drain & serve  as above.

I peel the corn then I place metal spoons and knives in the bottom of my pot. I add about an inch and a half of water. Next, I stand the corn up inside the pot. Place a lid on the pot and the corn gets steamed. Usually it cooks about 30 minutes. Just make sure the water does not evaporate because the pot will burn.

Hmmm, Kathy, that is very interesting how you do your corn! We actually have a steamer pan-set that I use quite often for our veggies when I take them out of the freezer. I like them steamed because then you don't lose all the nutrients from cooking them in water. I've never tried steaming corn on the cob though! Our steamer is big enough I think to stand the ears up in it....as long as the ears aren't exceedingly long. Going to have to remember your idea for next summer when we have fresh corn on the cob!!
Thanks so much for sharing it!!
