I surprised my husband and baked some of his favorite chocolate chip cookies and I took a few of them outside where he was working. Of course I took a glass of cold milk to enjoy with them...I usually set the cooling cookies on the counter but for some reason I left them on the table. When I walked back into the kitchen and saw that so---------many of the cookies were gone and just a happy faced dog sitting there so innocently...who could I blame? I should of at least pushed the chair in around the table so Bandit (fitting name for a cookie thief) couldn't reach the cookies....I never again left cookies to cool on the table, I always used the counter after that happened.I am sure happy I didn't stay outside longer or they all would of been gone.

We all know that animals just love sweets like we do, especially choclate which they are not suppose to have as it can kill them. Guess you were lucky.

I made Toll House Cookies last week and had the same thing happen except it was my husband who had eaten so many of the cookies. Today, I made another batch and put the cookies into containers so I could mail some to our nephew who is in the Navy. My daughter's coworkers have also discovered that I bake things from scratch and have put in a request for chocolate chip cookies. It is a good thing that I enjoy baking. I'm doing a better job of it now too since I started using an oven thermometer.

It's a cute story but very dangerous for a dog. I hope your dog remains well as chocolate can kill a dogs. Dogs are just like kids but they never grow up and have to be constantly watched.

I didn't even get my cookies made as the dog stole and ate the butter that I had set out to soften.
