Years ago, the first Christmas after I was married, I filled up two big bags with baking ingregients and headed off to bake with my mom. I got started the minute I got there, but mom was busy with her hobby of painting china. After about an hour or so, I asked her when she would be coming to bake with me, if fact I asked several times. Since I could have done the baking at home, I was getting alittle upset that I had dragged all these ingredients to her house, with her basically a no show. In one fell swoop, she came out, went to the fridge, got out a roll of your band of sugar cookies, sliced them, put them on a baking sheet, sprinkled them with colored sugar, put them in the oven and went back to her painting. I was amazed, she didn't say anything the whole time, but I had to know. I went into her studio and asked "What was that?!!? Moms gone now, but that memory will stay with me forever. Baker's helper, indeed.

I have made Christmas cookies for my tow kids and their families for years and the favorite cookies are the ones that you use the break apart cookies you put onto tassie pans and when they are baked you add chips to the top. Well! they thought I made them from scratch. I ones I woorked hard at were okay. Can you beat that?
