I told my daughter she could have anything she wanted for breakfast. She responded that she wanted sausage, eggs, and purple pancakes. With a bit of investigation I learned that every time she goes to Grandma's for a sleepover they make purple pancakes together. It is a sweet tradition that makes their time together extra special and memorable too!

What a wonderful way for Grandma to indulge her your daughter.  How special for them to have their own pancakes together.  I bet she will remember those purple pancakes forever.

Purple pancakes..... do they taste any different?  Is it just food color or fruit or such?  Hmm sounds like fun and something my granddaughters would like.

They must have food coloring in the pancakes, right?

Hope you all are not waiting for a reply from Bri, she posted the purple pancakes Sept. 21, 2008 and her last post was Nov. 17, 2008.
Being a grandma that has used little tricks to get kids to try a food, I think it would be safe to say the purple came from blueberries (I would have said "do you want magic pancakes? I can put BLUEberrries in & they will turn PURPLE" ).

I always use cookie cookie cutters to make different shapes for my
grandchildren pancakes. They do make pancake shapes then you just
bake hem in that shape. The cookie cutters have to be used after
the pancakes are baked.

I love pancakes!  I don't care what color they are or what shape they are in.  Just bring them on!!  After Church yesterday, we went out for breakfast with our "Breakfast Bunch", and 6 out of the 10 ordered pancakes!

Never made purple pancakes.  Once, I did make a purple cake with orange icing.  My dad jokingly said he wanted a purple cake with orange icing for his birthday so he got it.
