Every year I bake approx. 100 pecan pies for my husband to give to his customers. One year, it was late, and I had been baking (late night hours because I work full time) - it was very late. I had made up pecan pie mixture and went to get pie shells and I was out!! Not wanting to through away the mixture I looked in my cabinet to see what i had. I took a yellow cake mix and stirred up in the pecan pie mixture. I let it bake approx. 45 minutes. When it came out it looked like a huge gooey mess!! I left it sitting on my oven and thought I'd throw it away the next morning. When I woke up the next morning my husband was standing in the kitchen eating the mess!! He said it was the best thing he had every eaten - so now for holiday's I bake what has become known around my house as "gooey pecan squares"!! They are a big hit with all how eat them!

I think that sounds really good!Isn't it always what we see as mistakes or even "ugly messes"that turn out to be the best!
