This is from my husband. His Mom would always bake for him and his brothers and Dad. When he went in to the service, for holidays and his birthday his mom would bake sprints cookies and this delicious hazelnut cookies filled with raspberry jam. She would sit and individually wrap each cookie and place them into a tin and with a paper lace tray cover over the top before she put the lid on. She would pop popcorn and use this as a packing product in the box so the tin of cookies would not crush and she would mail this overseas to her son. He was in the Marines and her love would reach out and touch him like a big bear hug when he would open up the box. He told me that he would eat the cookies sparingly so they would last, but he also ate all the popcorn. That tin has travel around the world back and forth. He would send it back to her with trinkets from different Cities and countries letting her know he was ok. His Mom is a good baker and she fills and sends that tin to him for Birthdays and Holidays still. His face lights up like a liitle boy with a Mothers Love.

What a tender, sweet memory for your husband to share with his mother. In life it generally is the small things that we learn to cherish and hold closest to our hearts. That tin has held more than cookies and trinkets. It has held the love than words could have ever expressed.

WOW!What a way to show how much you love someone and let them know no matter where they are that they are always thought about. What a special bond it sounds like this mom and son have.
