When I was a little girl I loved to watch my mother in the kitchen. Little did I know that while I was watching her everyday routine in the kitchen, I was learning. I was learning to cook the way she cooked.
To this day I make so many dishes the way my Mom did. Some are made very different than the usual, such as macaroni and cheese, scalloped potatoes, etc. Everytime I make something like this to take to someone's house they always say "this is so delicious," what is the recipe. The recipe is in my head from watching my Mom but I always share "her way" of doing things with others. This is just one of the memories I have of my Mom and me. They are so precious because she is no longer here.

Kids learn all the time.  I think it is great that you learned how your Mom cooked.  You should write the recipes down to share with others.

There were three things my mother hated:  cooking, baking, sewing & it showed everyday.  She cleans better than anyone I've ever met & better than Grandma's cleaning service.  I learned from Grandma, Aunt, other people, books, watching tv.

What a great lesson you learned from watching your mother cook.

No doubt your Mom understood you were absorbing everything she did.

I lost my mom when I was 21 or 22!  I have the sweetest memories of her & love to remember them!
