My friend Jen and I would visit her "Mom-Mom" every week. We were all of 8 years old. Every week "Mom-Mom" would pull out all of her baking utensils and baking items like flour, milk, sugar and anything else she thought we would like and we would stand on chairs in front of the sink and just start mixing everything together. We "thought" we were baking cookies and cakes but all the while "Mom-Mom" just let us use our imagination to create special things that usually didn't bake! Her thought was that she didn't want us to be afraid of the kitchen or of cooking so he let us play. We thought we were the best bakers in town!

Everyone should be so lucky as to have a special person do this for them. If more people were allowed to experiment, perhaps more people wouldn't be so intimidated by the kitchen.

I encourage my granddaughter and her friends to cook in my kitchen also. usually, I have brownie mixes and such for them to use so that they have success.
