I always remember that whenever my mom made a pie there was always that little bit of extra home-made dough. She would roll it really thin, coat it with butter and cinnamon sugar, then roll it up. The smell was intoxicating, we couldn't wait for them to be done. These always baked along with the pie but were done early so we could have a fun treat in anticipation of the pie to come later.
