One thing I miss the most is my Mom baking bread. It was the one thing she did no matter what else had to get done the bread had to get baked. I can still remember the smell in the morning. I would open my bedroom door and be greeted by that wonderful smell of fresh baked bread. She didn't have a machine; it was all done by hand. She got started very early before anyone woke up.  There were pans on every spot a bread pan could fit. I would help her beat down the dough after it raised. I was never able to get the nack of making bread but I do make poppyseed and nut rolls. They were great times. My Mom is gone now but memories live on.LOVE YOU MOM

Christmas was a very joyous time of my childhood. Thank-you Mom and Grandma. I don't know how you did for so many every holiday season.

In my childhood home-baked bread was just the usual stuff.  But in the summer, harvest time, canning time, sometimes mom would be unable to find the time to bake and we'd have a loaf of Wonder Bread.  What a treat - a rare treat - store-bought bread.
We felt rich and fancy with that pre-sliced, soft bread.
Today I still like plain old white bread from the store.   Isn't that funny?

Sorry for your loss Veronica.  Your mom put a lot of love in that bread to make it special.
