When my daughter and her cousins were younger we used to let them decide what they wanted for dinner on their birthday and also the flavor of cake and how it was decorated. One year my nephew (whose birthday is Sept. 1st) told us he wanted a turkey dinner and a birthday cake decorated as a Christmas tree! Well that is what we made him, and the memory is one that has lasted for many years.

We had the same tradition when we were growing up. We picked our favorite meal and always had a special cake. The memories are wonderful.
