It dawned on me this morning while reading another wonderful childhood memory, how many times some other VBB contributor's memory evoke a very similiar memory from my childhood. I am currently (and rather impatiently) waiting for the birth of my first grandchildren. Yes, I said CHILDREN. My son and beautiful daughter-in-law are expecting twins, a boy and a girl. Which is even MORE wonderful because I had only sons. We are having a family BBQ/baby shower for them this weekend while they come for a visit (my only sad part because they live 7 hours away). I have 12 siblings, so including spouses, nieces & nephews, my immediate family numbers 61 (and still growing). We are a very close knit family and have a lot of summer get-togethers, outdoors being the best place to fit everyone. But I digress. After I got news of my 1st grandchildren, I decided to start a journal of stories of my childhood. Just memories of things that happened, growing up, thoughts and feelings I had. Not mushy but what it was like. I did it because my young nieces love hearing them when we are in the car (especially on long drives) and always ask for another one). Anyway. a memory I read this morning reminded me of something my Mom used to do for us when I was little. Very often that memory will remind me of something else and so on and so on. So thanks VBB, thanks fellow VBB readers and contributors. I will also thank you for my grandchilren, I hope they will someday enjoy my stories and memories as much as my nieces do.

That is wonderful. What a great way to preserve the family history. Good luck and best wishes for you, your family, and the grandbabies.

Congratulations on the upcoming twin Grandchildren. I send Blessings to all. The Mom, Dad, Grandma's, Grandpa's, and all the family. Too bad we can't post pics of the new additions. Like recipes and shared memories I read I also love to look at families that are happy. God Bless and enjoy your blessing---double!

What a great idea to start a journal! I don't have children, but I do have nieces...what a wonderful legacy it would be for them to get a window to the family history!
