I'm not a baker by any stretch of the imagination. I struggle in the kitchen daily. But I do love to draw, so for each of my kid's birthdays, I ALWAYS make their cakes and draw/design something unique

I'm not a baker by any stretch of the imagination. I struggle in the kitchen daily. But I do love to draw, so for each of my kid's birthdays, I ALWAYS make their cakes and draw/design something unique. They never want a store bought cake...over the years I've made pirate ships cakes, camp out cakes, popcorn cakes, drag racing, ipod...every year...and I try to come up with something my kids are into. Just a couple of months ago, I made a Diary of a Wimpy Kid cake...no special pans...just my cake canvas and my frosting tips!

I really enjoy your story!! I do the same thing for my kids' birthdays. In years past, I've had to draw the Wiggles (all sorts of versions - in their big red car, on the beach...sheesh!) then, it became Alvin and the Chipmunks, SpongeBob, Cats (cat in the hat, Sylvester, and Felix the cat) and others.... my sons birthdays will be coming up in the next few months - I wonder what they'll ask for this year! I hope they'll have fun memories of their personal homemade cakes (better than the store bought ones!)
