Today we baked pies. We were able to pick big gala apples from the church parking lot. We sauced some and buttered some, but my favorite part was the sweet smelling part of pie baking. We rolled out the dough as thin as possible to make a light and crispy crust and the smell of those apples baking MMMM. The best part was biting into that first bite. scrumpcious.

Quit making me drool!  When I was a child we had an apple tree with green apples called "transparent apples" that turned yellow  when they were really ripe.  These apples made wonderful pies and applesauce.  I also had a swing hanging from one of the branches of this tree.  Oh, the childhood memories.

I made an apple pie for Thanksgiving this past year and it looked so professional, puffing up in the middle, browning perfectly. Don't know what I did differently, but the family oohed and aahed!
