Growing up, we would go to our property in the country and each spring, pick delicious dewberries. More berries would end up in our mouths than our buckets. On one particular day, mother baked her huge dewberry cobbler in the "cobbler bowl". We four kids were all standing by salivating and excited that the cobber was finally done. As she was removing the cobbler, she asked my 8 year old sister to hold the over door, but by sister's hand slipped and the oven door sprung back and hit the cobber. It went everywhere, all of the floor & inside the oven. We were scraping the cobbler trying to salvage what we could. We kids were all blaming my sister. I think we each got a little bowl. We were so disappointed and I've never forgotten about that cobbler after all these years. Mom always worked hard harvesting berries and making syrups and cobblers.

A wonderful memory. I also remember picking berries in the summer where I grew up... Thanks for sharing.

What a story! At least you were able to get a small taste of the cobbler.
