Usually, I read all directions pertaining to each new recipe I try.  One time, I must have "stepped out for lunch", because I somehow didn't see the direction to grease the pan.  Those brownies came out of the pan in little chunks!  Luckily, they were not meant to be taken to a Church function, so we were able to "make do" with them at home.  They still tasted very good, but I never again made that recipe.  However, I now read EVERY direction.....even if it is a recipe that I make over and over!

Now why in the world did I not think of that.  Parchment paper is always in my "baking drawer".
Thanks for the reminder.  Next time, that will be a priority!!

I can remember when my sister was making creamed carrots and scorched the butter.  She re-named this dish her cocoa carrots.  They had a brown look to the cream but tasted okay just not like cocoa.

I constantly made Oatmeal Cookies, that I thought I could do it by memory.  I don't know exactly what happened but I think I switched the baking soda and baking powder measurments because they came out really puffy.  My brother-in-law loved them and told me I should make them that way everytime.  Unfortunately, I have attempted to and I haven't gotten the same results.

Not sure what happened but we were in home economics class and made blueberry muffins.  We thought we followed the recipe correctly and were so proud of ourselves because they came out looking great.  But when we cut one of them open to apply butter to eat it - they were bright green inside - no kidding.  I think we mixed up baking powder and baking soda and the soda reacted with the blueberries.  Needless to say we didn't get a good grade and the teacher made us eat them anyway.  They didn't taste bad but sure looked funny.  I laugh every time I think of this - I still love to bake and try new recipes and luckily this has never happened again.

I have no idea at all what heppened but I had total disaster when I was making cookies with macadamia nuts and marachino cherries ..........  the expensive stuff that had to be chopped by hand.
In the oven the dough flattened out and even dripped off the edge of the sheet.  UGH.

I think we have all had those - usually you're brain steps out.  I've never had anything inedible - just not so pleasant to look at, so it could still be eaten at home.  Of course I can NEVER duplicate the good goofs!
