I made my first Angle Food Cake. I was very careful to follow the recipe to the t. I poured the batter into the cake pan, carefully I open the oven door, put the pan in and set the timer. The timer goes off,so I checked the cake,it wasn't done,in fact it was all batter yet. I closed the oven door, set the timer again and waited. Timer goes off, oopen the oven and it still was just batter.I thought my oven was broken, when my husban offer his help. He asked me if it would work better if the oven was on. After the cake was baked,I took it out of the oven, made it to the table, being careful I set it down the next thing I knew it ended up on the floor. Now I make sure the oven is on.

Sounds like the day I was having yesterday.   I think I dropped, spilled or made of mess of everything I was making.  However, things are going much better today!

Better to forget to turn it on than to turn it off LOL.  I have done that a time or two especially with the new stove.  Now I make sure I push the OFF button as soon as I take the last thing out.  I'll bet the cake turned out great anyway Susan.

I too have done this.  Also I've incorrectly programmed the oven to automatically come on to bake an item at a later time and come backto find out nothing had cooked.

I am so glad that I am not the only person in the world to have forgotten to turn the oven on to bake something  ;)

Soo funny.... I had my oven on, but the element was not working.  I could not figure out why the cake would not cook.  I am glad you were not trying to cook the cake to take some place.

Cute story.  Thanks for sharing.  Hope it fell on the floor while still in the pan and fell the right way so you could still use it.

Speaking of oops! When we had our super bowl party, I put meatballs in the crockpot to make Swedish meatballs and wondered why they weren't cookiing...next day I discovered that I forgot to put the plug in the socket. I disconnect the wires to appliances on my counter because I am afraid of fire! My husband and I were eating meatballs for a week!
