My mom said that my dad missed me when I graduated and went to college because I was the baker in the family. I would bake for him at least once a week and lots of times mad 2 different deserts for him. My mom always had Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chips in the house.

Hope you still have the opportunity to bake for your Dad. He must have a sweet tooth and was sure to miss your great desserts.

What a wonderful story!! I also baked for my Dad--deserves the caps. He taught me how to make the bread stuffing using sage and thyme and crumbled cooked sausage. Both he and my Mom--deserves the caps--taught me my love of baking. As they grew older and could not bake anymore, I took over and replicated their favorite dishes much to their approval. They are both gone and terribly missed. Bake/cook for your family as much as you can. You are creating wonderful memories.

Make your dad some cookies because you never know when God will call for him. I lost my Dad suddenly in 2002 and I am so very glad I have wonderful memories of making him the sweets he loved! God Bless!
