When I was a teenager, my mom returned to college. On the evenings that she had class, she often would leave a partially-prepared dinner for my dad and me to finish off and have ready for us all to eat when she got home. one day, her instructions said to put the rolls in the oven at 7:00. I opened the fridge, found a tray of yeast rolls, heated the oven, and popped them inside. When my mom got home about 15 minutes later, her first words were "What is that smell?" I hadn't been in the kitchen and hadn't noticed the smell of burning plastic until then, but it seems that I had not removed the plastic wrap before baking the rolls. Well, it wasn't in her note! :-)

I could really relate to this with my children. I had gone back to college and several of my children we're teenagers at the time. I could imagine them doing this with some of the notes I left for them and the way they did things. So, I found this story rather cute and truely could relate to it!

Like I have always told my wife, "If you want something prepared correctly make sure all the instructions are complete with details." Good story and thanks for sharing

My family can relate to this. I went back to work part time and worked with the late crew. My boys were very good and both are excellent cooks now but we did have some "interesting" dinners as we all learned from the circumstances

What a delightful story. I have written out some recipes and then thought maybe I should add this to it. Like scald the milk, Whip the egg white, punch the dough, and many more. I could just picture some of the ideas unexperienced cooks might think of. LOL Thanks for sharing and have a good day, Donna

I might not have left the plastic wrap on it, but I have done other things just like that.   Or does no one else store things in the oven?  I have gone to preheat it, forgetting that something was sitting on the rack inside - out of the way.  It can be a mess!
