WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE, WE WOULD HAVE A GIRL'S NIGHT OUT AT ONE OF OUR FRIEND'S HOUSE. MY GIRL FRIEND, DARLENE, WAS THE HOSTESS THIS NIGHT AND DECIDED TO BAKE A CAKE FOR OUR TREAT. DARLENE DECIDE TO MULTI-TASK BY BAKING A CAKE AND GO RUN A SHORT ERRAND AT THE SAME TIME. SHE FIGURED HER ERRAND SHOULD GET HER HOME BY THE CAKE IS READY TO COME OUT OF THE OVEN. BY THE TIME SHE REMEMBERED HER CAKE, IT WAS TWO HOURS AFTER HER CAKE WENT IN! IT WASN'T TOO BURNT BUT A BIT DRY. I REMARKED THAT SHE WAS LUCKY SHE DIDN'T BURN THE HOUSE DOWN!

I'm just surprised the cake didn't turn into a brick and dark too. LOL

I'm also surprised that the cake was not really hard. Did she weight it down with alot of frosting?

She is so lucky she did not have a fire and lose her house. NEVER leave anything cooking on the stove or in the oven and leave your home....

Did she start out burning boiled water? Sounds like my sister-in-law & I feel bad for her...no matter how hard she tries, even supervised, she either burns or overcooks everything. Thankfully my brother can cook otherwise they'd either starve or go broke eating out.

She was lucky. I was cooking something once and decided to clean the bathrooms while it was cooking. I got busy and forgot all about it. I heard a crackling noise and realized that my kitchen was on fire. Only one wall was beginning to burn. Luckily I was able to put it out but it cost a lot of money to make the repairs from the fire damage.

I'm even afraid to leave the crock pot unattended as many people do. God must have been looking out for her.

It is a good idea to stick around while you have something baking. Lesson learned.
