My sister and I attempted to make sugar cookies with sugar frosting. She mixed up the frosting, and instead of using confectioners sugar, she used granulated. It still tasted okay, but it didn't spread very well for decorating and the texture was very...interesting.

That reminds me of when my sister sprinkled lemon bars with flour instead of confectioner's sugar! Yuck!

At least it was sugar.  The flour would have been a disaster.  As long as it still tastes good, no one has to know you did not intend to do it that way. Wink

I made the cooked frosting for Red Velvet cake once and I think the recipe was wrong as it was way too runny.  I kept adding powdered sugar until it finally was spreadable.  Not supposed to use powdered sugar in that recipe.  I finally got hold of a recipe that worked. That is the one where you cook flour and milk, cream butter and sugar and then whip in the cooked flour.  Really good frosting.
