I remember being in Junior High and watching my Mom try to prepare pie crusts. No matter what she did, it just ended up in a lump and she would get mad and throw that crust down. I stepped in to save the day and did my first pie crusts and had no problem rolling them out and getting them in the pie plates. From that day forward, my Mom always put me in charge of the pies! I don't think she ever tried pie crust from scratch again!

That's a good feeling when you can accomplish making a good pie crust. Your Mom and family must have appreciated your efforts then and now.

I know that my daughter makes a wonderful pie crust from scratch and she always tells me that it needs a gentle touch. Her daughter now makes wonderful pie crusts also and she is only 15.
