When I was a freshman in high school, one of my electives (since I liked to cook) was Foods I.  During the course of the year we had a cooking contest in all of the foods classes.  I was one of the local winners, along with several other girls.  We got a trip to Atlantic City and competed on the stage of Convention Hall.  It was quite an experience.  I came home with a blue ribbon, a certificate and a remembrance plate which is in my china closet.  I made Tuna Macaroni Cheese Ring.

It was such a thrill.  It was sponsored by a Gas Company (not gasoline).  They paid for our trip there, hotel, meals, etc.  I'll always remember that!

Marie, you should make the recipe, take a photo of it & also type up the recipe & store along with your ribbon, certificate & plate.
Also take a photo of the grouping, that would be a nice way to pass the items on in the future.

What a great thing!   To win a trip while you are still in school, and then to go on and win an even bigger contest.  It is a wonderful memory.  I am glad you shared it with us.

Marie -- thanks for such a happy, successful memory to hear in the morning.
And, like Carol said, you're fortunate to have been in such a great Foods class.

When I was State Rep for ICES (International Cake Exploration Society) I traveled a lot and won several Blue ribbons.  I even taught a Cake decorating class or two along the way.  The best memories were when I judged cake decorating shows!  Really some good decorators and more than could benefit from a few lessons.
