I was making coffee, got everything ready, and went to shower. Upon returning I had forgot to put pot back and coffee was everywhere. Finally got it all cleaned up and made another pot.

I am staying in a short term rented apartment right now while we are staying near my son & daughter-in-law.. It has a coffee pot that I am not used to and once you put the water in, if you don't get the coffee urn underneath within like 30 seconds, the water comes running out!! It is hysterical!! I've already asked if the complex had a different one for us to use but the don't right now so I just have to make sure the coffee is in the filter area, the unit is on high, hot and the urn is in place so I don't have a mess of water to clean up!!

Coffee? I live beside my 4-cup Mr. Coffee. It's a wonderful little machine. I like mine so much that when I thought it was getting old and might die - I bought a new one to keep on hand. That was over two years ago and it still keeps perking.
It won't allow any liquid out unless the pot is on the "heater" so I can pour a cup during the process.

I have a coffee machine with a lovely stainless steel thermal carafe that keeps the coffee warm. I once got the coffee all set up and hit the button, and when I came back there was coffee everywhere, even though the pot was properly inserted! I couldn't understand it... until I realized the pot was full already and my batch made it overflow all over the place.

We all seem to have a coffee mishap at one time or another. You're right - what a mess. When I had mine from not putting the pot in the correct positon there was coffee and grounds on the counter, the floor, and even inthe cooking utensil drawer. I couldn't even have planned a bigger fiasco.
