Shortly after I got married. I invited my family over to have Thanksgiving dinner with us. I was a new cook and trying very hard to have a great meal and get everything done. I decided to make baked beans as one of my side dishes. During the meal my mother asked what I put in my beans. I replied, barbecue sauce, and cinnamon. My mom laughed and said there pretty good but next time try brown sugar instead.

I've experimented throughout the years and found most things turned out pretty good, just as your beans did.

Experimenting is great. Yours must have tasted good. I tried adding celery seeds to my dressing one time and that was a disaster. I wouldn't even eat it. lol. Thanks for sharing.

I think cinnamon sounds like a good idea!  I am not that crazy about baked beans myself.

Speaking of changes in recipes, I was usually a wonderful cook until...We had been working outside in the yard all day, doing the usual Spring clean-up. I finally went in the house to make my famous chili, but instead of chili powder, I added ground cloves! Uggh. We had pasta instead and the chili unfortunately went into the trash as unconsumeable.
