I asked my gf to make a bday cake for a coworker. She made a beautiful cake with lots of flowers and decorations. I was transporting it to work when i saw it start to slide on the seat. I grabbed for it and when i did the top layer started to slide off . Plus I had my hands full of frosting. When I got to work I texted her a picture and said help. She answered me back with , its beyond help lol. Well i had to do something since I had to present the cake in about an hour and there was gonna be 40 people waiting .I put the pieces of the top layer back on as best as i could and stuck toothpicks all through it to try to hold it.Then I ran to the store and bought 4 cans of frosting. The frosting was about 3 inches thick in places and it really looked awful. But it was back in one piece mostly. I then went out to the garden and picked a bunch of flowers to cover the cake with. It was a really gaudy mess but when the party started my coworker said it was the best cake she ever had cause of all the care that went into it, We all had a great laugh looking at it. But it was interesting to eat around the 40 toothpicks in it . lol.  I no longer will transport cakes. If i need one I have my gf drop it off.

Cute story Steven.  I know I've had the "sliding" cake thing happen once or twice myself.   Great thinking on the fix!

Ohhhhhhhhhh  -- Lots of trouble with a special cake but how fortunate you are to work at a place with a garden!!
I'd be concerned about how "clean" the flowers were.
But I never worry about toothpicks -- I know they're clean - lol lol
