Oh dear.....my worst cooking blooper was a month or two ago. I was making an apple pie. Mixed up the sugar, flour part and set it aside after I had the crust all ready. Put the bottom crust in the pie plate, then I peeled and sliced the apples and put them in the pie plate. I had my top crust all rolled out and ready, so I put that on top, cut the slits in the top crust and put the pie in the heated oven. Back to the table, I proceeded to clean up my mess when I saw a bowl with a mixture in it. I thought for a minute and then all of a sudden it hit me!!!! It was my sugar, flour mixture.....still sitting in the bowl and my pie was in the oven!!! I debated for a split second and then took the pie out of the oven. Had actually only been in there about 3 minutes or so, but it was still difficult to get the top crust off. Fortunately, there was enough dough left so I rolled out a new top crust.....this time AFTER I added the sugar, flour mixture to the pie!!! I'd never done anything like that before....guess I just didn't have my mind on what I was doing or something!! The pie actually came out great.....one of the best I've ever made!!!!

hehe - I love hearing that other people can be as scatterbrained as I sometimes am.  Makes us more human, I think - especially to be able to laugh about it afterwords.  So glad you found it in time to fix the pie!

Nancy, I try not to think about that!!! Embarassed Homemade definitely is better, Maryann.....but mine almost wasn't! Surprised You're right, Dawn.....it does make us more human and we all make mistakes. I almost did something just as bad the other day. I was making some scalloped corn for dinner. I mixed in the chopped onions, the egg, salt and pepper and put it all into the greased casserole dish. Hmmmm.....didn't look like as much in the dish as usual. Oh well, I started to put the milk on top when all of a sudden I realized why there wasn't much there.....I had forgotten to mix in the cracker crumbs!!! Fortunately, I'd only poured about a teaspoon of milk onto it, so I dumped it all back into the mixing bowl, got the crackers out and crumbled them into the mixture. Then, I put it back into the casserole dish and baked it after adding some butter pats to the top. I guess that's why it's always a good idea to get ALL of the ingredients out and have them there ready....then you don't forget something! As with many things I cook or bake, I didn't have the recipe out because I knew it heart, but almost messed up on it bigtime!!! Foot in mouth

I made peanut brittle the other day, and forgot to put in the peanuts.  I tried to mix them in after I had poured it on the baking sheet, However, it didn't really work.  My husband doesn't mind as he gets all the messed up stuff.  It would be good over ice cream.

Frown  I suppose I made some sort of blooper yesterday when I made - or tried to make - that peanut butter fudge.  I wasn't solid when I got home  and this morning it's more firm but It's not solid.  I don't think I can cut that into pieces.  Rats rats rats

One blooper I know I made was a couple days ago ......... I was STARVING.    I toasted a hamburger bun .... grabbed my  hamburger patty from the freezer, wrapped it in paper towels and threw it into the microwave.  I added ketchup and lots of sliced onions to the bun.  Added cherry tomatoes and potato chips to my plate.  Got my glass of milk and sat down.  I started eating and it was almost delicious.  It took me two or three bites to realize that the hamburger patty was still in the microwave.  Oh, good grief.

I've been making my husband's favorite, beef stroganoff, for almost 30 years now and I still have to drag out my old cookbook everytime I make it.  A couple of times I didn't and always seemed to forget something LOL.  Nice to know I'm not alone!

Good saves girls!

Yep, I guess we all make bloopers and mistakes at one time or another. But then...we are only human!
Nancy, gotta love you there, Girl.....a hamburger without the hamburger!!! Ha! Ha! Sounds like something "I" would do!!!
H.M., you are so right....if I used the cookbook every time I probably wouldn't make so many errors! But then....I wouldn't have any bloopers to tell here! Wink
