I moved away from home to WI back in June and I am about 18 hours away from all my family, my daughter, parents, brothers, a niece, and two nephews who live in NC. Not counting the other relatives. I received some bad news about my mother last month, so I immediately flew home to be with her.

My Mom and all of my immediate family are very close. We decided to cook a big home cooked meal on the last Sunday that I was home. My Mom and I prepared all of the food. We had fresh collards, potatoes, corn, butter beans, string beans from the garden, and fresh yams. We also prepared Mexican Cornbread, a boiled ham, deviled eggs and we made pecan pies for dessert.

Doing this with my Mom gave us and the rest of the family forget all about the bad news that she received from her mammogram. At least for a day anyway. We all enjoyed the food and then just visited for the rest of the afternoon. It was good for my Mom for me, my brothers and their wives and the grandkids to all be there for her and just the fact that we were together.

I enjoyed the visit, though it was nerve racking, with Dr.'s visits here and there. However, I am pleased to let you know that my Mom's biopsy results came back non-maligment.
