A batchelor that worked with my mom had noticed that I had won a blue ribbon on my Chocolate Chip Cookies when I was 9 years of age. This was my first entry at the fair. I liked this gentleman, and dad would go hunting and fishing with him often. One time I made chocolate chip cookies for dad to take along, I didn't send very many. The following time I went to see mom at work, he made a comment about him not getting any of my dads cookies. The next time, I made sure they both had plenty of my cookies. Many many years later, I hear that this gentleman is living in a nursing home and doesn't have many visitors. I made up a batch of chocolate chip cookies and paid him a visit. He remembered me from so many years ago and he asked me if I had won any more blue ribbons lately on my cookies. I told him I had not entered the fair in a long time. He told me to go home and make a batch and enter them in the upcoming fair. I did, just that, I won not just a blue ribbon but also the grand prize cookie ribbon as well. I took both of the ribbons and another batch of cookies to him. I take cookies to him once a week now and we enjoy each others company! He also displayes my ribbons proudly!
