I learned just about everything I know about cooking and baking from my aunt. Even today, I have her taste-test my dishes before I serve them to others. Even though it was at a very sad time, my aunt bestowed upon me what I see as a great honor. Her youngest daughter passed away at the age of 43 and my aunt asked ME to bake a cake for the family & friends that would come to her house after the funeral. It was a very difficult time, but it was also a very special time. It allowed me to pour all the love & respect I have for my aunt into something tangible. It was quite an honor for me, indeed.
