again I am sorry..... I am using my lap top which I am trying to get used to. I enjoyed your story of memories. I know for one that Grandmothers are very special. My Grandmother-n-law known as Grannie taught me about everything I know about cooking. She taught me to cook in a pressure cooker and how to make homemade corn bread in a cast iron skillet. Thank you again for your memories.

What a wonderful, heartwarming story. It brought back so many great memories of my mother and grandmother, from the wood table to the meat grinder to the cast iron skillet. Thank you for sharing.

I can relate to this. It makes me miss my grandmother and sitting on the kitchen table while she stirred something on the stove. Passing on the family secrets are, sadly enough, often lost with the older generation. It's nice to see that someone has chosen to continue that tradition! Kudos for you!!!

I too have fond memories of my mother cooking in the kitchen. I can still smell those wonderful aromas. I was too young when she passed for her to pass the family traditions on to me, but thank god I had two sisters older than me that took the time to pass on some of those wonderful meals my mother use to fix every holiday for our family. I make sure that my children know how a wonderful cook their grandmother was and how much love she put into every meal. I'm hoping to pass the tradition down to my daughter and I hope she will keep our holiday traditions going.

What a sweet story. I also felt like I was in that kitchen witnessing it first hand. How I wish the grandparents or today were the same as yesteryear. My mother-in-law would be to some extent but the military has us far from home so my children do not have that priviledge of getting to know her in that capactity. Maybe someday we will be in closer proximity. But for now, I cook with my kids and hopefully they will gain some sense of yesteryear from me.

Holiday cooking always reminds me of times spent with the women in our family. Hours flew by in the kitchen, and lots of memories were made, along with the food!

I must of hit submit, but this time of the year alot of people remember and enjoy the season for the above memeories. I feel that holidays and or special occassion are built on tradition. Good Food, family and that what put the season together. It is always a time for giving and sharing what we are blessed to have. We may not have alot, but there are always those who have so much less, possible not even stories from past to share with their children.

I love to cook. I learned so much from my mother; however, she insists she didn't teach me. But I learned so many things just by observing her, and mentally noting her comments about the best ways to do things. I also learned from my grandmas who were also very good cooks. I have tried to pass along my knowledge to my grandchildren.
