It was Thanksgiving day and I was making rolls - lots of rolls for our entire family's dinner. The rolls were in pans all over the kitchen and living room, raising, in preparation for baking. The first couple of pans were baked and cooling on racks. I was just putting another pan into the oven, when there was a bright flash and a flame went all around the bottom heating unit of my electric oven. Blitz! And the oven shorted out. Knowing that there wasn't a hope of getting the oven repaired on a holiday, I did the only thing I knew - called my parent's home. When my brother (from Texas) answered, the first that came out of my mouth was, "Houston, we have a problem." He came and got the rolls, we baked them in a neighbor's oven, and everything was done on time for the dinner. And the rolls were absolutely delicious - probably because of the extra love and attention that went into baking them!

Thank goodness for helpful neighbors willing to "donate" their oven on a holiday! Thanks for sharing your story
