For many families the holidays mean getting together for lunch or dinner, but for us, Christmas is all about breakfast. A few years ago, after our youngest daughter got married, it became apparent that trying to find a common time for our children and our grandchildren to come for dinner on Christmas Day was getting more and more difficult. So we decided to start our own tradition by having breakfast for them instead. In this way our grandchildren could enjoy opening gifts on Christmas morning with their parents, and know that when they came to Nana's and Pawpaw's house, they could look forward to a hearty breakfast before opening their gifts here. My husband loves to cook as much as I love to bake, so he does the cooking while I put in a few choice desserts. We have fruit, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and ham, along with muffins and rolls and juice and coffee. We thoroughly enjoy the time we spend with our family at that time, and the bonus is that we get to have our Christmas early, and relax the rest of the day. Seeing our grandchildren early in the morning while they are still excited about the day and everything that Santa has brought is such a wonderful experience, that I am sure our tradition will be carried on for many years to come. I can imagine the stories that will be told to future generations when they gather for their own holiday moments and recall the memories of Christmas at Nana's and Pawpaw's.
