Cali& Maestro are doing pretty well in n this hot weather .
Maestro has alwaysenjoyedhis drinks ofwter&I haveactually seen Cali take a sip/lick or two of water on a really hot day

On a hot night: ( 80's) Cali sleeps on the window perch in the open window.

On cool ights( 50's) I wakeup to find Cali wrappe around my head for warmth ;
She's cat &only loves me when she needs me

Cali hasben banging her head into my head"in the wee small hours of the morning" [ 2AM]
She then allows me to rub my knuckles on herr head( "noogie head" ) & make nice kitty.
Last night after paw paw/ hubby went o bed,I remained in the l ivingroom, reading...Cali climbed into my lap where we spent t a few hours together; I think she is at long last allowing me to be part of her family!!!!!!!!!!; & it only took 4 years

Our' "BEASTY GIRL"CALI is becoming a lTLE sweetie; now that I've figured ured out that she dreads fingers approaching her( past abuses uses?) I now pproach w/a balled up fist & give her noogie heads like on Sat.NighLive in the olden days
sheb is less hesitant to approah when called spends most of the daylight hours in her crows nest bed( on top fa scratching post illar.
Maestro is still my " swet baby boy;comes & cuddles when signaled or called. At theageof ten; he still il jumps on our bed @2AM & bounces on paw paw& gives meowme whisker kisses.

The big fuzzy brown thing is Oscar - a labradoodle I recently adopted knowing he needed a very expensive liver surgery which had to be done at MI State U, as that was the closest surgery center with a vet who could successfully perform it. He's doing GREAT! His buddy is Zinny, who prefers dogs to other cats any day, and since Oscar loves cats, it works out great!

GRANA here; With the cooler weather& colder nights beasty girlCALIcali ias now sweet baby girl----- wrappingerself aound my ead for warmth overnight,keping us othwarmer,daytimes she lays on hubby's nap pllow; just her little headn that BIG PILLOW; the rest her is on his EDSOX or PATRIOTS stadium banket
Maestro is usualy on Dady;s chest oron thetoss pilow on the tospillow on the ther side of the couch. On rare occasions they curl up together in one kitty bedw/ it's cozy fleece walls hugging them in togeter; so sweet thechanges in Caili since she joined ned our family.
Every overnight @ 2AM,Cali come barrelingover to me & insistson noogie /knuclkle head rubbing & whispred conversation.At about 0600 hrs paw paw( hubby gets someattention & a wake up call. Now retiredhe ignores the too early wkeup call & makes her waittill 0700hrs whichshe does, rather than getting hugged by a sleepy old man

The cat is amazing for 21 I would not believe it either.
The dog does look like a throw that you would use on a cold evening. And knowing the labradoodle I am sure he would lay across you like a throw.

Now I just have to figure out why cats like to lay on your chest while you are sleeping .....or trying to sleep.

Nikki I think they like to hear us breathe and listen to our heart beat just as they did when they were kittens with mom and their litter mates.My little Juliet( 9 # dog) always sleeps on my chest.Both dogs slept on my chest when they were little.I was able to paper train both in a short amount of time because of this ( I knew when they had to go ) and more importantly we didn't lose sleep due to crying puppies.Romeo now sleeps next to me,he weighs 34# so no way is he sleeping on my chest lol. One of my cats used to suck on our shirts and knead like he was searching for milk on his mom.

i'm in love with my 10 year old cat. she's a long haired siamese. she did belong to the house next door but when they noticed that kitty spent more time here than at home they asked if i wanted her. they didn't get really personal with her & play with her at all. she was scared to jump on the bed or couch to visit me even. she would shake with shyness until she learned it's ok. her name is fuzzy. i love all animals!
