Oh my goodness  .......... While ago I went outside to try to repair the storm door lock.  I had my brand new set of hex keys and went to work.  Something tried to climb my legs!!!!!   It was an incredibly tiny peke dog - black and white with a rinestone collar but no ID.  She was STARVING.  I ran inside and got the leftover cat chicken - back inside to get a can of cat food.  She just inhaled it all then was frantically trying to climb my legs and crying.  Back inside to get another can of food and my phone. I called the regular police number and they said they had no reports but would be right out to get her.  If/when her owners are looking for her the police is the first place they will call. I told him - a wonderful young officer - I would keep her overnight until the humane society opened.  He said the police have a key to the society and he will take her there, put her in a comfortable, safe cage.  Her owners will be checking there too.  They sure wouldn't be checking my house. When the officer had secured that tiny darling (who was thrilled to have him pick her up too) he was climbing into his car and said, "Are you the cookie woman?"  LOL LOL  Isn't that funny? I said I was the woman who carried cookies to the police station.  He said he recognized my name ..... those were the best cookies they had ever tasted and appreciated me very much. I'm  taking more cookies there tomorrow.

Nancy, What a great story!! Is this the lady who said she was not going to bake anymore?
lol lol How did the cats like the little dog? So cool what the police officer said!!  Did you
get your door fixed?  You were in the right place at the right time for that little dog.

Hi Nancy that is a nice story.Are you going to check in on that little dog? I hope so,if you do let us know what happens to her.I know that the police appreciate the cookies that you make for them.I used to bake for them at the airport when I was still able to go there.They could never thank me enough.They would always stop to say hello to us and talk awhile.Remember what the police deal with everyday most of it is not pleasant,you have done a good deed and I know they truly appreciate your cookies you brightened their day! Good job!Several gave us FOP cards.

Yes Gale -- Later this morning I'll go to humane society to see how things are going. (should I dig cookies from the freezer for them?)  What a precious little dog ... such a loving sweetheart. lol     She was also thrilled to see the policeman and have him pick her up. 

But I'm not thinking about taking her if she's not claimed !!  Really.  No.  I have two mean, jealous, bossy cats who are both heavier than she is.

My door is still broken .... I was unable to fix it   :-(  .  One of the young men who do stuff for the condo assoc. is coming  (I had hoped to fix it before he arrived) sometime today.

So much went on yesterday ..... I hope today is quiet.   But I do have to take some paper towels to the school at church.  Yesterday I saw that for an unknown reason they are out - kitchen and bathrooms!!) of their usual towels.

Yes Gale -- Later this morning I'll go to humane society to see how things are going. Sure you could give them frozen cookies when the thaw they are good as fresh.I completly understand not being able to add another pet.I just think it would be great to have her back in her owners arms.I wanted to adopt a black Pekenese that had been lost I was second in line to adopt her but her owner stepped forward and claimed her.That made me happy.Sometimes one more just doesn't work.I was fearful of bringing Juliet into the house and I was very careful with her around Romeo at first.His Breed (Basenji) he is also half Doxie.Basenji's are not good with cats and other small animals and could even kill them.So I really can't have another cat.By he way,when Hubby and son brought Juliet home this little 1# plus pup walked right up to him with no fear,it was love at first sight.I think you saw the picture of her sleeping on top of him.The are always together.Well I sure hope you get all of your chores done today.Smile

Hi Gale --- I ran around town today including a visit to the humane society but they are closed on Tuesday.  I knew they had short hours - just 11 AM to 4PM and were closed on Sunday but I didn't know about Tuesday.  
agggggggg that poor little dog is stuck in a cage with no one holding her.  How she wants to be held.  Somebody HAS to be there to feed animals and clean cages but I doubt they answer the phones.  I wonder if the ownere of that dog is looking for her.
I took cookies to the police station ... hadn't planned on thatuntil Easter.   
Oh well, I have 3 batches of cookie dough in the 'fridge.

But I keep "seeing" that funny little face .... funny.  I've never been a fan of little dogs like pekes, poms, poodles or such.

Some little dogs will just melt your heart.Juliet is so cute and cuddly.When a stranger is around she is not too cute! She is very protective of me and she is definitely the Alpha dog here.I sure hope somone is looking for that litttle girl dog.Nancy I would die if one of my dogs were missing. I know the police will just love your cookies.That's very nice of you.

Cry  Finally this afternoon I made it to the humane society to ask about that tiny dog who arrived at my house Monday night.   Today is Thursday - I was certain that darling dog with the fancy collar would have been taken home by relieved owners.
But she was still there - unclaimed.  
The woman I talked to said she was a shitz szu (spelling???) not a peke and she was doing just fine.  If she is not claimed she will be easily sent to a new home.  
That's it - and no, I wasn't allowed to see her.  Cry

Shih tzu's are so adorable.I'm surprised they wouldn't let you see her.The Pekinese I had my eye on was there nearly a month before the owner stepped forward.I really wanted that little dog but if I could'nt have her I was glad she went back to her owner.Here in Cleveland a dog that is found wondering around and is taken to the pound they are not allowed to be adopted out for 30 days.I know that I would be sick over one of mine if they were missing.If you find out any more let us know,please?My sister in laws cat went missing and she was sick over it,she put up signs everywhere and checked all the area pounds just about everyday.Twister was no where to be found and she was just sick over it.I kept telling her if he was alive and can get out from wherever he is he will come back.About 6 weeks later Twister returned home,skinny and smelling like maple syrup.She figures he was around the pancake house well over a mile away how he got there no clue.Happy ending Twister is home and has gained back all his weight that he lost.

Nancy,I don't think for one minute that is what they thought.I would keep checking to find out what is going on with the dog and let them know that you adopted your cats from there.What you did was the best thing you could have done for that sweet little dog.I adopted Rocky from the APL and the women there wasn't going to let me adopt him because my Kelly @ home wasn't fixed yet.A nice man there said I could have him because it wasn't anyone's business what I had at home.Kelly had a boyfriend at the end of the street and she had come into her first heat,we did not let her date him,if you know what I mean.She then went through a false pregnancy,she was even producing milk.I had to wait until she was through with that and then had her fixed.My reason for adopting Rocky was so she could have a puppy because she was in Momma mode.The two were always together for the rest of their lives.I lost Kelly 2 years ago and Rocky a year ago.My great little tiger kitty,Ditto pasted away between the time the two dogs pasted away.Romeo and Juliet have helped me greatly with my loss.Please don't let this bother you,you did the right thing.My guess is they can't display the dog for adoption because they have a waiting period to give the owner time to look for the dog.Take care Nancy.

lol -- a few days ago I bought a new vac and it's been setting in it's huge box in the living room.  This morning I opened up that big box and the cats went wild.  They were in it digging and tossing as soon as there was room.
Now the box is empty - I taped three sections of the top closed so there just a bit of room to enter and escape.  Hours later they are still having a ball with that box.   '
lol lol   A couple days ago I paid $3.98 for a little cat toy and they haven't touched it.

 we go to the State run liquor store or hlesle club to get FREE give-away emptycartons, so much un for ur 2 kitties we humans who getto watch them.
They go inside one after the other &sometimes both curl up inside(if it's a BIG enough box?
 Somtimesonestays insid&heothersits o top&theyplay 'clap hands" or  "catch my paw!" Often the box ends up in shreds &then the 2kittiescurl up on avacant chairor sofa
; while one of us humans cleans up the mess!

Nancy, Our cats love boxes too. I don't know why we buy toys for them
when they love the ones that are free.  lol lol Our cats love the paper
grocery bags too.  They don't last very long. lol lol  Put some catnip
on the new toy.  All our cats like catnip.

When we were first married our first baby was Bubb,a Maine Coon.My Husband would work on call as a Paramedic.Well the one night he was called out and I was alone in the house with just the cat.I woke up because I heard something. Still laying in bed I saw our laundry basket moving near the foot of the bed.Being only 22 at the time and still afraid to be alone,I thought it was being moved by something supernatural.lol lol lol.It was our baby Bubb,the gentle giant playing with the laundry basket.This cat loved to play fetch just like a dog.He loved to go inside of a paper shopping bag also.I sure miss that sweet cat.
