our cat is 13 and we found out he has skin cancer .it s so sad as sometime we will have to put him down and the thought hurts .so hes family he got mice and nutty bugs for us he sleeps with us he will be missed

Hi MILLIE;GRANA  here;
 So sorry to hear about your cat's health problem; It depends on the type of skin cancer he as; Just like w/ humans; there are several types of skin  cancer, some more likely to cause  pain& suffering than others.Do you remember ROTTY GIRL? Oneof her beloved ROTWEILERS   was diagnosed w/ ( basil cell ) skin cancer. I  have a human loved one w/ basil cell; it requires immediate  removal & biopsy; follow up exams, removal  & biopsies. After several years of this routine & staying out of direct sunlight, there were no more found, then a few years later another was ound & removed.This type of cancer is the least likely to spread  and is the least life threatening....It requires regular monitoring.( with removall & lab tests to make sure it is not another, more lethal type. I thinkit was AMOS; and  thelast I heard, he was doing well, misses his sun baths though. 
This is WARNING/ MESSAGE to all of us: " avoid long periods  in sunlight.Our pets love to bask in the sunlight  & it won't  be easy   to keep them out off it.But before &definitely afterwards,be aeanie" & protect  them  & yourselves  from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.CoolKiss

just  as likely to show no further problems.Talk to your vet &find out the Type of  skin cancerr; treatment plan, etc. Relax & keep  giving lots of love to kitty, no matter what, you want to have him feel loved.  
Please  give us his name ;to be included n our prayers.
G-D loves animals, too & will help you to take care of kitty.

LOL LOL --- this afternoon I was standing in front of the cat food - staring.  I was soon joined by a woman who stood and stared at the cat food.   We looked at each other and laughed ...... we both have picky cats.

Brought a new member into our menagerie the other day - a beautiful long haired Siamese.  His owners wanted him put down (at age 5) because he developed diabetes.  The vet refused and brought him to the shelter.  He was in foster care for a long time, and no one wanted to take him on because he needs shots.  Even the shelter was giving up on him but I met him and decided he would be a great addition...He made himself right at home and in less than 24 hours was jockying for a place on my lap, even though they told me he was not a lap cat.  Awesome big boy!

Erica,  Congrats on the Siamese cat.  We have 2 Siamese cats plus several other cats. lol lol

Update on Squeak and Jezzie. We have had our new pets (family members) since last July after our beloved "Dusty" died. We cannot tell you how much our lives revolve around these wonderful children. They are a delight adding joy and laughter to our home.

Yes we do!  He is my second Siamese - the first is an older boy (age 19 now) whose owner had to go into a nursing home; again, no one wanted him because of his age.  Four years later, he is going strong.  Vet says he is in perfect health.  My house is full of "misfits" and I wouldn't have it any other way :D

All of our cats are rescue cats and we enjoy them all!!  We were told that a
couple of our cats were unadoptable but they are all well adjusted now and
very happy!!  It did take several months with two of them!!

Poor kitties are having big problems with me being gone (working at church) all day.  They meet me at the door screaming and they aren't hungry.  They stay close to me all evening.  The minute I get home I strip and dump my clothes in the washer, then run to the shower.  (the room I'm cleaning is really dirty)  Those cats are under my feet every step. 
They are not used to be being gone.  Poor. lonesome kittens.
