Hi NANCY; You 're certainly right on that point!

:Medical science has shown that sharing life w/ pets lowers BP & relieves depression.But we cat(& dog) people know the benefits are much greater than that:
They provide:
a reason to get up each day
warm feet & laps;
lots of laughs
companionship
unlimmitted love & acceptance.

I have a Black Lab/ Chow mix named Max and a female cat named Lillte Cubs. Both are 5 years old and they are difinitely part of the family even though they think that I am their possession.

That's great Bev .... I sure understand about being possessed by a pet.

The air conditioner is roaring and it's just 75* in here but both of my cats loos like they're too warm ..... sound asleep on their backs with paws spread.

HiNIKKI; Sorry for any concern you felt during my enforced absence.. the site( under construction) rejected my efforts to log-on for so long, I nearly gave up trying, but I still made the effort twice daily.The failure to connect was an unhappy time for me. Hi Ann have a great 4th of July! My poor puppies don't know what to think of all the fireworks someone was having fun with last night.I sat down and they both jumped on my lap and finally settled down.I really think they know when everything is OK from the vibes they get from us.They are no longer affaid of thunder storms.When we relax so do they.

I had a Russian Blue cat that my dog Duke found on our tree lawn.I was a teenager at the time.Amigo,was badly injuried and we brought him in and nursed him back to health.Anyways I knew a thunder storm was brewing by how Amigo would act,it could be beautiful,not a cloud in the sky and this cat would almost crawl with his belly on the ground.Sure enough a couple of hours later it was storming like crazy.His nick name was "the Weatherman" .lol he was another one of my sweet cats.

My foster dog, Susie, is finally going to her new "forever" home after a year and a half with us. I'm happy...but not. I almost hope it doesn't work out, so she will come back to Basset Buddies Rescue and become a permanent resident here, but then there would be one less foster home for the rescue to depend on...

I agree w/ you ; our pets gauge their feelings in response to ours( fright/ secure/ happy /content

This is thefirst year( since1987) that ourr st was not disturbed by nighbohood kids etting offrockets& fireworks.Perhaps their f amilies had less money to spend on noisy crackers & rockets & they had to settle for the city's FREE fireworks display at the stadium; which we can hardly hear.We all enjoyedthequiet evenning 9 anicechange) perhapsthepolicedeptenforced the ban of non-licensed fireworks? Whatever, it was nice & quiiet for a change

Hi Ann,so glad to see you back again.It was so loud over here.All the surrounding suburbs must have all set their's off at the same time it woke me up! The puppies did OK no major upset for them.Now if I could get them to stop barking at my neighbor every time he goes in and out of his house that would be nice, lol ! I guess they are just being good watch dogs.
