Hi Ann, that is such a happy ending! Like they say cats always pick their people.We had a big red tiger that enriched our lives,we only had him three years but he was the most loving ,sweet ,huge 25# kitty he showed up one day on my door step,we think someone left him behind or he came back to his area,after moving out with his owner and they never came looking  for him .My husband called the APL and they wouldn't come out to pick him up,they don't pick up cats here.My youngest boy told his father not to call on the cat because that was his cat! My Son was around four at the time.He named his cat Lucky because he said we were lucky to be able to keep him.Lucky always took long walks with us and he also helped the boys deliver their paper route,he walked along with them.We loved our big red kitty.

well he obviously wants you”! .    We tiredly   agreed to a visit in the ”interview room”  where pets & prospective new owners can meet & spend time w/each other .Fluff immediately jumped up into my lap & curled up ; really odd behavior for a cat!  I was a stranger in a wheelchair & he should have run away. Instead he  acted like he was my old pal & wanted to stay w/me.Hubby just shook his head& asked “Are you sure you don’t want to change your “WISH LIST”  I ( w/ tearsin my eyes) Said” I want this KITTY!”. He’s exactly what I wanted all along. We got personal & vet references taken care of, paid the adoption fee & brought FLUFF home.Once set free from our carrier, He ran the 31ft length of our living-dining room back & forth till he was exhausted; then jumped up into our old rocking chair & fell asleep. It was like he had always lived here; knew where the food, water &litter box were; and a good place to sleep and at night he cuddled between us on our bed
We bough t he same food he HAD BEEN ven at the  shelter & he refused to eat for 4 days.
One evening hubby was eating  bowl of cheerios on the couch,w/ onepaw, Fluff grabbed the bowl & immediately started eating ( milk& cereal were gone pretty fast . we then changed his name to Maestro( the guy who runs the show & controls the entire production of the opera . Maestro was obviously in charge; knew what he wanted & hewas going to be obeyed!

 Maestro used to pull his( dry)  food out of his bowl w/ one paw; tossing  it all over the kitchen floor..We have now had Maestro for over 3 years, He weighs about 9.5# ( nearly ideal. His silky hair is shiny & has never had a tangle!/Maestro loves to be groomed & comes over for “pretty kitty”  when he sees one of us w/his brush.  He has become a GOOD EATER &  loves the SPECIAL FORMULA PAWPAW mixes up for him:2-4TBS dry chow( prefersTUNA; but will eat the multi cat formula since that’s all we now provide.
One TBS.canned food preferably (cat)  tuna, any  flavor is OK ( but not mixed grill!)Just enough warm tap water to make a slightly soupy gravy/sauce.It gets stirred just to blend & is served immediately!.Maestro will only eat just enough to no longer be hungry. He may eat 4 times a day but not large amounts at any one time. He always comes when called (like a puppy)forbrushing, meds, food& cuddling.Forthefirst18 monthsMaestro would roll over onto his back for a belly rub whenever I said “tickle belly?” Since Cali joined our family he has stopped that. I think she told him that he “looks like a fool& that the humans wil lose respect for him if he continues being so silly He still lets me  gently roll him over & tickle his belly & he still wiggles & squirms like a giggling  toddler when I do “tickle belly” Maestro loves to drink water, but the bowl must be clean& the cool water freshly drawn .Like I wrote earlier: he knows what he wants &
 “ MUST BE OBEYED” WinkLaughing

We have 2 yorkies and I will guantee you that they are part of the family, They boss and we do.  We love them to death.  WE had a Yorkie before and he was a mamas boy, we lost him after 13 years.  My DH could not be happy until we got another one, then he got me a little female for my birthday and that was a grand day. How anyone can be creul to a animal is beyond me,  if you can't love them then don't get one.

While in the hospital I was given those socks with the none slip stripes on the bottom.They are like a tube sock,I tied three knots in them and my dogs are having a blast playing fetch and tug of war.Puppies are pretty much like kids,playing with the simpliest things and being quit happy.You can use any tube sock.Sometimes I put empty 20 oz pop bottles in a sock and tie that.They seem to like these toys better than the toys I buy for them and a lot less expensive.

 Hi NANCY;;
Yes,I too  have had those pesky error messages; less often  lately...I guess you are getting them now?
I never learned what(if anything) I had done wrong to provoke them but by repeatedly trying,I usually succeeded in posting.

Maestro, aka Mice-ee(hubby’s idea)   has become such a precious part of our lives but we were unable to give him all the time & attention he seemed to need( @ times)Hubby in his retirement has the need for   more  purpose/structure in hislife. He became a volunteer @ the”NO KILL” shelter where we found Maestro). In the beginning, after training,  the nearest location had 2  longtime volunteers & hubby was a” floater”  filing in where needed; not always close to home. Finally the location a short walk from home had an opening.  Each night,  he  came home, showered & change clothing before touching Maestro( to prevent spreadof illness/ bugs illnesses .Every evenning I  heard stories of pretty cats; old cats; fat cats; sweet cats..Once in awhile hubby had an injury requiring cleansing & bandaging.He never reported these as required;  to prevent a  scared cat  from being penalized.After a few months on the job, I was invited to go w /him to meet some of his "friends".We  had both taken training on bringing homea second kitty. Hubby needed it to help advise new adoptive customers.I went along to help hubby get all the info despite his deafness.

 I went to visit hubby’s" kids".I saw the cute ones (ALL/most) ; the old one , the fat one (same one,Henrietta)  lovely long haired torty butterball w/ a sweet  face. &  Covered w/huge mats. She was in obvious  need of a good home but  I knew I could not groom her due to my own disability. I was also concerned that at age14 she would likely need lots of expensive vet care that on Social Security we could not provide. I then saw A BEAUTIFUL faced calico w/a belly the size of a basketball or volleyball. Her eyes were huge yellow marbles outlined in black; like too much mascara. She seemed to be smiling & I just had to smile backSmile

Hubby asked if I would conside r adopting Henrietta as at the end of her life she could use the loving home we both knew we could provide. He said she was sweet & gentle & deserved the best home.I sadly explained why I felt hat was a poor idea.But I really liked the younger9 2.5 yo)  Cali whose silly face made me smile.She was short haired & easy to groom & w/encouragement to play & a better/limited diet could loose that BIG Belly that would otherwise shorten her life.  Hubby got the on duty volunteer(Michelle) & told her that “ we” wanted to adopt Cali; The volunteer (Michelle)  got a strange look on he face & took hubby aside to talk in private…She came over to e & asked “if I was sure” I explained that  our Maestro needed a companion &  that Cali looked easy to groom &  hersily/funny face made me smile.Thevolunteer again spoke privately w/hubby.; who stated” you don’t know my wife” she can do wonders w/animals; let’s get the paper work done so we can take Cali home.”Areyou sure?” I was asked;I lost all my common sense(ignored the obvious signs that something was wrong.  Hubby & I decided to talk about it at home before adopting Cali. On the way home &at home,I expressed my concern that Maestro might not do well w/ another kitty nthe house. As much as I wanted another kitty,I did not want to hurt Maestro in any way; he was so perfect a loving companion to us both!
