Our little cocker mix rescue is certainly a part of our family. She gives as much or more in love and companionship as she gets. I can't imagine her not being part of our family.

I have one cat. His name is Toby. He is definitely a part of our family. We adopted him from the local animal shelter when he was about 2 or 3 years old.

I had a dog that became part of the famile because I adopted for my friend because he found it at the creek because some body tossed it out of the car.

Well, I'm a posession (as I've said before) of my cats. When I decided (long, painful story) I could have some cats again, I went to the local animal shelter and and asked for kittens no one else would take. In the back room I met two needy babies and fell in love.

Peaches is who you see as my avatar. Badcat is HUGE. He had such serious ear mites that the right side of his face is .... well. I think he's gorgeous.

I lost all my cats over the past few years. That is the hardest part of having a pet. To have to give it up. My husband would prefer to have a dog. He lost his dog too. But a cat moved into out lives and she has taken over the house. She is "his" cat. But she
allows me to feed her & brush her when she is in the mood.

HELP!!! My cat, Dusty, has been a part of our family for 16 years. As I stated before, he is a sweet tempered loving cat that will be dearly missed. I am now having a problem with him pooping outside of the litter box. He doesn't do it all the time, but has started to do it again. I have had him to the vet and they found nothing wrong with him. Does anyone have any ideas? I can't catch him doing it to put him in the litter box to re-train him. It is very upsetting and I don't want anyone to accidently step in thebusiness when they get up at night which is when he usually relieves himself.

Did you change cat litter brands? My cats always hated any changes. Or perhaps he can't see as well. Is it covered? As they got older, my cats prefered an open litter box.

Thank you to Gale G and Pat A. I didn't change his litter and when he continued to go outside of the box even though he still urinates in it I changed to a litter suggested by the vet and still no help. There are now two separate litter boxes and he still will not do his business in the box only urinate. I had had him to the vet and had blood tests and urine test and all are fine. I really hope it is not a phase of his old age. I am really frustrated.

Smokey is our child and we are his possession. He is a Russian Blue that we got when he was about a year old because his human was on her way to Kuwait. He almost 8 years old now. He wakes us up in the morning and puts us to bed at night. He takes good care of us and we take good care of him. Nice post topic :)

I want to say we have a 5 year old yellow lab and she is the love of our life. she gets along with all, does not have a mean bone in her body, just a sweety. i would never, ever consider her a posession. she is a member of our family, a spoiled member

lol - while ago I started to write about my 'babies', but dear Badcat decided it was hug time. When a BIG cat decides it time to be held, you don't try to type. He's usually sitting or sleeping on HIS chair right beside my chair.
(Peaches has her own chair too .... it used to be my nice, padded computer chair .... Now I use a hard little kitchen chair.)

I like to think & wish it were true that all domesticated animals had uch good l ives.
UnfortunatelyI've seen too manyexamples of otherwise treated creatures: dogs tied up on a hot summer day, ow/o access to shade or water.On a cold windy winter day w/o shelter..obviously given too little ood ( their ribs were too rominent; shivering &pitiful.I tried talking to thehumans in thehome,ut they, in my opinion were less than human;made me ashamed to be of the same species as them.

In Response to Re: ARE YO R PETS A PART OF YOUR FAMILY OR MERELY POSESSIONS??????????????????? : I also had a Russian Blue,he was found in our yard ,probably hit by a car.His hip and pelvis were broken.I took him to my vet and he was in a splint for 4 weeks,I had to hold him over the litter box :) My mother was reluctant to let me keep him because of our 2 adult dogs who had no contact with cats.I named the cat Amigo.Amigo was kept in a baby crib away from the dogs.A few days after bringing the cat in the dogs forced their way in to see the cat,well they smelled him and walked away.After that we just left the door open and the dogs would go and see Amigo.After the cat was all healed up, the two dogs Duke and Duchess would sleep on my bed with Amigo.I had Amigo my friend for 12 years,he was the sweetest cat,always there to greet me when I came home, happy and purring .That was 29 years ago and I still miss him,he possessed my heart.I had a nick name for him I called him monkey :) I have nick names for all my guys.

I have two dogs, 2 cats and some cows. My 3-legged black lab (Peggy) is a rescue and was going to take her long enough to find her a home. That was over 3 years ago. She is 13 now from what the vet said. My Border Collie (Measae)*Masy* is 6 months old and she actually smiles at you. She needs alot of training yet. I do concider my animals as a part of my family and I am glad to have them all in my life. The personality of each animal is of their own just like a person. Each have their own needs and I try to meet them as best as I can. Peggy, seeings how she is older don't like to play much. She sits in my chair when I am gone and when i am home she wont move. So I guess it's more less her chair and i am the privileged one to be allowed to sit there when she permits it. But I make sure that she has her time with me sitting on the floor, head in my lap, just petting her. Now the pup on the other hand makes me play catch with her 24 hours a day if she could. I take her outside and throw the ball for her. She and I chase cows in the pasture once and a while and get into trouble just as a 2 year old would.

The cats. Perelle is an evil cat who like to ambush the pup. Sits behind the couch waits for Measae to come by and attacks her then runs to hiding spot. Parelli is about 13 and we rescued her along with Peggy. Toby, the other cat plays fetch with me. No ball chasing or stick thowing, but he fetches ear plugs. I throw them he brings them back and drops them at my feet. He is the only male animal we have and gets picked on by the pup and Perelli. Needless to say, his favorite spot in on top of the refrigerator.

Seeings how the wife and I are unable to have children, we focus that aspect of our lives on our animals and spoil them.
