Nancy and Gale, We had a great time camping with the cats. There were so many birds and rabbits that they could watch!!! I don't think they got much sleep. They have been sleeping a lot since we got back! Your pets really do make you smile a lot! We never get bored either!!! I love that Gale's fuzzy kids came to pick her up from the hospital. Nancy I have a couple of monsters too. The house looked like a tornado hit it when we got back today!!! My husband went every day to check on them to make sure they were alright!

Not being able to have children yes they are part of my family my furry 4 kitties ( a feral mama I adopted and her 3 kids) and a rescued adopted dog named Fiona. I can't imagine a life without pets have had them since a very young child.

Gale, It is so hard to lose a pet that is a lover!! I think you miss them forever!!
There is never a pet that is the same as the one you lost!!! Everyone is different!!
I am so sorry that your cat died!! I am still praying for you and hope you are
recovering nicely from your surgery!

Gale, It is so hard to lose a pet that is a lover!! I think you miss them forever!! There is never a pet that is the same as the one you lost!!! Everyone is different!! I am so sorry that your cat died!! I am still praying for you and hope you are recovering nicely from your surgery!

Hi Carol,We always remember our pets and yes we miss them but thank God we had them in our lives.Each one of them adds so much happiness and joy.I'm so very dissappointed in my SIL,she adopted a Momma dog that was found along with her puppies.She brought her home after all the pups were weened.The dog ran off a couple of times and she said she just couldn't put up with her nonsense.I don't think she gave her a chance,she came back after she ran off.She is back at the pound now.Why do people do that with an animal? I wish I could take that dog in myself.She had taken another dog down to the pound years ago because she didn't work out either,they raised her from a puppy.All of our animals have died of old age.I'm so glad to hear that all of us are animal lovers here and are responsible people.

Gale, Some people should never have pets!!! It is heart breaking to hear that she is back
at the pound!!! Hopefully she will have another chance to have a good home!!! I have a hard
time trusting people who do that to their pets. I tend to back away from those type of people

Hi Carol,I agree some people should never have an animal.My husband never had a pet growing up,but that changed the minute he married me.He never showed much interest in our animals.Over the last fifteen years he really loves them and plays with them and has cried for each and everyone that we lost.He absolutely is in love with Romeo and Juliet.I taught our boys to love and respect animals.They played with the cats and dogs more than any toy they ever had.Every night that they went to sleep they had one of them in bed.My oldest boy is married and to this day has his Beagle, Shiloh in bed with him and his wife.LOL Long time ago I told my niece if you can't take care of a dog then don't have kids they are ten times harder than taking care of a cat or dog and kids don't wag their tails nearly as much. LOL

Nancy, I never have to worry about it in CA!!!! There is always a cat on the bed!!
Try to roll over in the night and you hear a growl, you know that you are too close
to some cat! lol lol lol!! When I'm in MI, I have trouble getting to sleep because
my sister doesn't have any pets!!! lol lol !! Didn't you want to go to some place
for wood carving and who would take care of the cats?? When I'm in MI, I leave
messages on the answering machine for Speedi because he hates it when I'm
gone!!! My husband plays it several times just so he can hear my voice!! I know
our cats are spoiled!!! It works!! You could do that too!!! What we wouldn't do
for our cats!!! lol lol

Romeo is not playing with Juliet today.He is taking all their toys and putting them on the couch so she can't get to them.Does this sound like kids playing or what ??? No different than human kids.

Mary Ann S, You got out of CA just in time. It 88 degrees inland (approx. 18 miles) so San Diego on the coast
is 10 degrees cooler. If you could have come inland you could get gas prices about 10 cents cheaper. Hope you
had a good time while you were here.

When I first lived in CA - 1971 - I got a kitty and named her Grace. The plan was to have her "fixed" the day she was old enough .......... she presented Thunder Thud, White Cat, Oscar and Spot. I found homes for Oscar and Spot but had Grace, Thud and White Cat for 13 years. Then Jingle and Belle moved in. Belle lived 18 years and Jingle made it to 20.
No cats for 2 years ...... then came Peaches and Badcat.

I just finished writing out the story of Maestro & how he came to be a part of our family.
It is too long to post in oneentry.
I plan to post it in sections over a few days .
I'll begin tonight:

We lost both our 16 y.o. cats to different cancers, 6 years ago.

Being unable & unwilling to consider life w/o a kitty ,we adopted a new kitty.She had a heart condition that required a feline cardiac specialist; specialized testing & care & medication daily; .We did all the vet suggested & he said " she( hopefully) might outgrow her condition"
w were on a waiting list for cardiac surgery to correct the porblembem. Her apetite was good & she seemed to enjoy herl ife w/us except for the daily pills. One day she rolled over& was unconscious for awhile. We wrapped her in a blanket & cuddled her till we set up a quiet comfy place for her to rest. We called her vet & took her to the clinic in our car.A half hour later as we pulled into the clinic’sparking lot, we noticed she was not breathing. We rushed i inside. A vet tech was sent out to the car.He returned w/ the bad news that our sweet kitty was dead. We arranged for her funeral in a pet cemetery. Once home again, hubby (in tears)stated that “WE WILL HAVE NO MORE PETS!”; it just hurts too much to watch them suffer @ the end of theirlives & then to lose them!”
I accepted his decision( no choice really) An hour later he ,now dry eyed, said”I’m so selfish:you are lonely at home all day & needthe company of a pet& we have lots of time &love to give to one; lets think about it, make up our “ WISH LIST” & start looking for our new baby” We spent days making a list of what we wanted( spayed female; uder 3 yo; easy to groom(I’m disabled) and a pretty face ( nice eyes)

Hubby researched shelters & rescue organizations for days. One day he called me over” to “look at this one”!’ It was a tiny grey striped kitten, nothing special; but needing a loving home. We went up t o the rescue league’s new building, 40 minutes from home.We found the tiny pretty gray striped kitty.She immediately, w/o warning, bit hubby & we sadly & wisely looked around for another.: Cat after cat in rows & stacks of cages; nothing special…One cage had a long haired orange- red cat. The long hair was very pretty but more grooming was required than I could provide. The eyes were yellow & squinting, looking like a rat’s eyes. I could not look away! I went up to the cage & talked t o the cat. It came right over to me. I read the cage (info) card.I t said he was was a 5yo neutered male. Not at all, the cat we wanted!. I (against the rules) put my finger into the cage.Immediately my finger was icke & we never l ost eyecontact. Other sitors looking for a pet, came over & commented on how much this cat”loved me”Th epoor thing had been in that t cagefor neary 5 months& nobody wanted to adopt himHubby asked if I had found “our new BABY” ?NO! It’sa male; too old & needs difficult grooming. A volunteer came over & asked if we I wanted to adopt this cat? I explained why I did not.She said “well he obviously wantsyou!"
