We both love animals and have had both a cat and a dog. Both lived to the ripe old age of 18. However, now we travel a lot and we would hate to put an animal in the kennel all the time. We decided that we would wait to get another pet when we can't be on the go so much. So now we have "grand dogs". Our daughter and her family have two Corgis, which are the sweetest dogs, but they do try to herd you, the kids, and anything else that comes into the yard ( including the pool man and the gardeners). They are brother and sister, named Indiana ( INDY) and Dakota. They get their exercise herding the pool sweep, It is a riot to watch them.My son and his family have a golden retreiver named Abby. She loves the water, and they can't keep her out of their swimming pool. She is getting older about 8 years old and being a larger dog and having several physical problems, who knows how much longer she will last.My grand daughter, who is 13 and in 8th grade wants to become a veterinarian. She is a volunteer at Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation in Walnut Creek, Ca. (or ARF) She is a "kitty person" now, but when she gets to high school, she can take the "dog training". In case of the grand dogs, they are definately members of the family.
