I was thinking about where I would live if I had a chance to go anywhere. Then I started to wonder what others would say. For me it's definitely mountains. A bit separated from everything but not too far from neighbors so I wouldn't be too isolated. A mountain cabin & feed me meat/[potatoes/gravy and I would be so happy! Listening to the wind in the trees, the wildlife & natures' playground. And a camp fire every night.

Your description fits me to a "T". However, I would add only warm, tropical breezes. That would make it Hawaii. I love Hawaii. We were there for two weeks, and experienced only about 20 minutes of "bad" weather. It rained, but it was a warm rain. I could be packed in 20 minutes and ready to move...if it were practical. Alas, it is not, at least at this time in my life. A very good topic, Vicki s....thanks for the posting!

i lived in pa for years and my husband and i moved to lower de we love it here very little snow and warm summers taxs are so low 449.00 a year we have a ranch home on 1 and 3 quarters acres. car insurance ishalf of pa s

I like it very much in the country in Nebraska. It is very quiet and the countryside
is beautiful when the crops arer growing and the pastures are full on baby calves and is green.

Vicki, is it possible to have ocean and mountains in the same location? Other than Maine where it is cold or the west coast where it is earthquakes, floods or in the northwest rain 360 days of the year?
I like Illinois because family is here.
If it were not for family I would go someplace where it is warm, I hate the cold and snow and the dreary days of winter. If I want the change of seasons I can take a trip or look at pictures.
I guess no matter where you go there are good and bad points.
So I guess I will stay put.

ut @ this point in our l lives ve, we want comfort, w/o fear& easy accesst to medical help & social contacts.Thirty(3) years go beforeI became disabled & started to needmore expert medicalcare;I thoughtI'dfound"IT" San Digo,Califoria) Gret weather., great produce prices& lots of friends, also I could drive& hadmy own car ; a perfect situation for me....The beaches/Pacific ocen were 1/2 hr away; skiing thesme( oposite irections), far stands museums & evrything else to make us happy were less tan one hour from home

Nikki you made me laugh!

We don't really have many earthquakes on the west coast! There's tremors that go on & we don't even feel them. They aren't anything much. I like to study the USGS United States Geological Survey map sometimes is how I even know that we have them. Sounds like you would like it here.

My niece lived in Washington and my great niece lives in Oregon and they are just both beautiful states.My son may want to go to Washington after he finishes nursing school and in that case I will go with him.

Ann you lived in California before! San Diego is quite far from me. About 4 or 5 hours. Down there the earthquakes (nikki

) are way more frequent than but they are also not as often but more strong than in the upper part of the state. And it's one of the larger cities of the state. You liked large cities Ann? You sure sounded like it and it sounded like you had fun! Too bad I didn't know you then. I could have gotten you out of the city once in a while! I got lost in the collusiem once as a teen & i didn't want to use the bathroom for the rest of the concert! Don't know how to spell collusiem & the spell check is refusing to help!

In my lifetime I have experienced living in Iowa with tornadoes, snow, ice, humidity and mosquitoes; and in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado at 8500 foot elevation with snow, freezing cold and black ice, but great skiing; and now in southern California with beaches or mountains just an hour's drive away, no bugs, no humidity, and temperatures getting down to 30 degrees on occasion. Guess where I prefer to live??? And I will take the experience of an earthquake any day over that of the 3 tornadoes I lived through!

We are very happy in the San Francisco Bay Area, but during the winter when it gets cold, I'd love to take off to Maui!!!! My husband and I have a favorite resort there called Napili Kai. We have been there about 8-9 times. I do like living where we are though as we are close to family and friends. Unfortunately our daughter and her family are moving to So. Cal in June after my granddaughter graduates from high school. My son-in-law is already there as he took a job down there. He is anxiously waiting until the rest of the family can move down. The two older children will be in college, but we will really miss their 12 year old. She is the apple of grandpa's eye!!! We still have our son and his family up here.
