I was thinking. Most of my students give me coffee mugs.Over the years I will say at least 300. I collect them then bring them to the shelter and the nursing homes.Sometimes they are filled with candy, gift cards to different places.Several times the single moms jot a note for me in the card with their phone numbers.Never date one of the moms.Really not a good thing to do at all.
 I always write a thank you note to each person.I feel it is important yo do , teach them a lesson..speaking of lessons,the kids are filing into class.back to work for me.

HM;
Your gift of"thoughtfullness is possibly the best gift of all....
Make sure there is a store ( near them) for them to use the gift.Giving a gift card is our choice for those  we do not have sizs or interests for .We  try to make the gift a gift & not a burdenSmile

One year for Christmas a relative gave me a decorated sweater vest.  Unfortunately it was really huge.  When I asked about exchanging it for a smaller size,  I was told it was bought at a store which is about 80 miles away from where I live.  Needless to say I never got around to exchanging it for a different size!  If I'm not sure what size someone wears I would much rather give a gift card.  I always check to make sure there is a store near them before I get a card from a specific store.  That way they can get what they really want!

I also received a "salad shooter"  and ended up giving it to charity.  I'm trying  to convince my family that I no longer need any "stuff"  and the thing I would appreciate the most is a photograph of the grand kids.  They don't even need to furnish a frame as I have plenty.  Even if it is just a school picture that is just fine.  However, what I would really like is a picture of all 5 kids together.  I have one they did 10 years ago, but the boys will be leaving for college next fall, and it would be harder to get them all together after this year.

I agree Barbara family phots are the best gifts. My grandparents loved them.When they passed away, my parents had to take care of their things.There were years of photos with comments on the back in one frame. it was like that for each grandkid.It was sweet.A note in their own handwriting..They cherished the photos and us.
