It's 76 in Hot Springs, AR this morning with a high of 96 expected. A heat advisory will be in effect from 1 to 8 pm.

For the past week or so, we have had hot hot weather, but then all of a sudden, I am wearing a sweat jacket again. The weather people keep telling us it is an upper level low (whatever that is). Actually, I think they are just making it up, and really don't know what is going on!!!! I'm feeling really skeptical today!!

Monday the high was 91 the heat index was 97. We are under a heat advisory. Also code orange. Tuesday it will be worse.

My thermometer in the shade is saying 96, so I'd bet on the 100 heat index. It is like an oven out there. I'm sure it is worse in town as we have lots of grass and trees instead of pavement.

Right now the actual temp here is 96 too .... and it feels much hotter than yesterday's 100. I just drove the short distance to WalMart and walking across the parking lot felt "dangerous". Oh, it's hot.

We had a little front or something come through a while ago. it is 7 pm and has cooled down to 82. There were a very few drops of rain, some big thunder a a couple lightning flashes.

Good grief --- it climbed to 102* this afternoon. 102* !!! Then the storms moved through and it's fallen to 81*.
What an incredible temperature rise and fall we've had today .... and none of it is a record.

It was extremely hot and humid today. The heat index was over 100. Suposed to have thunder storms and the temperature is supposed to go down. So far nothing and it is 10:43 p.m. I'm sure when it does storm it will be a doozey.
