My dear cats are just incredible............ a few minutes ago I'm sitting here in the dining room typing and the kids are playing on the kitchen floor... . crashing and the usual noise.  No problem
I had to get up to check the cupboard for things and saw what the noise was ............. My kitchen range is a nice big, heavy thing but somehow those wretched creatures had managed to open the huge bottom drawer thingy.  How on earth?!!??  They were both in it trying to get behind it.
I pulled them out and completely removed the drawer so they could play back there.
The thing is ..... How on earth did they get that open?

What are you going to do when they open that drawer when the oven is on? Going to be some  hot cats. Tape it shut w/duct tape or put a child safety strap on it. If they opened my lower drawer, they would get cooked since that leads to the broiler burner.

hee hee --- And now it's morning.  I've read a section of the Bible  (I'm in Hebrews right now), fed the cats, made the coffee and turned on the 'puter.  Badcat is sound asleep on the shelf above me and Peaches is asleep over my left arm.

"Want some cats?"   Like you would EVER part with them!  LOL  It is amazing the things they can get into.  My guess is the drawer was open a tiny crack.  So naturally, they had to see if their paws could "find" anything inside.  Once the paw went in, the "crack" widened & then it was an open invitation.

I love it!  I had one cat who would would open a cabinet and shove stuff out so he could have his own hidey-hole...Hopefully, your lower drawer is like mine and just for storage, with nothing heating up, or Badcat will be pretty surprised one day!

I am visiting my daughter and her cat, Spike, aptly named, is a beautiful part siamese who is a territorial terror. He is not an outside cat, but heaven help and creature that dares to enter anywhere on the property that he can see. He is ferocious and one time escaped to the outside and ran off another cat that was in his territory. He is 16 lbs and looks like a baby cougar!

I'm a pushover for animal stories and I just love this one!  Never could have a cat with the kids and I with allergies but we did take one in for a brief time.  Within a week or two, she delivered kittens.  My husband and I drove an hour and a half one way to take momma and the kittens to Lollipop Farms where they don't euthanize the animals.  She and the kitties would be adopted.  Wow, that was probably 40 yeras ago!  Wonder if Lollipop Farms still exists.

I put in a response but for whatever reason, it doesn't appear so I'll try again.

We were living in NY with our four kids.  A cat was in the field behind our house howling in the wind and cold wintry weather.  Of course, we ended up bringing her inside to our basement.  We kept her for a while and she delivered four kittens.  Because we all have allergies to cats, we took momma and her kittens to Lollipop Farms, an hour and a half one way from our home.  This facility didn't euthanize, they only did adoptions.  Three hours well spent, making sure she and the beautiful kittens would be safe.  That was at least 40 years ago.  Wonder if Lollipop Farms still exists.
