Thanks for the heads up on this, Nancy. I did a copy and paste, and evidently the site didn't like that!

Never underestimate the youth.  Yes, it seems like they do nothing but have their noses in their iphones, but I am seeing many young people that are articulate, and have ideals and ambitions.  Of course, I have 2 grandsons in college, and they are very focused on their futures.  One is already talking about getting his PhD.  I also have two grand daughters in high school and they are focused on where they will go to college and what they want to do.  Parents, start talking about the value of education early and often!!!

Some school systems no longer teach cursive.

We cannot blame anyone but ourselves. We inherited the idea from our parents that we wanted our children to live better than we did. The only problem is that although we may live longer, because of the lack of physical exercise since everything comes to us, we have more disease due to the lack of exercise. A lot of our grandchildren are very intelligent. The only thing lacking is a work ethic. I didn't work quite as hard as my parents. As grandparents, we need to let our grandchildren know about the history of our country, etc. We have a fund of knowledge that we can impart without being opressive. Share, if not with grandchildren, with other children. Make it a wonderful, exciting story, which it was.

We visited Albert Einstein....well his bronze very cool monument....in Washington DC this past June!  He was a "thinker" beyond his time!  Technology has it's pros and cons.  I for one don't think there was any thing wrong with the "simpler" life however I do love being able to communicate with my husband and sometimes "see" him even when he is 8000 miles away!

Thanks for the post Verlee.  Although technology is great sometimes it does have a tendency to stifle human interaction.  My grandaughter, who is very focused on becoming an animal doctor, has to be reminded occasionally to put down her phone.   What with all the surfing and texting, a lot of these kids will have carpal tunnel syndrome before they reach puberty.  I can attest to the fact that it's no fun to have that!

I agree the kids don't know how to play outside and make up games.
They sit at the compiters and text on their phones.

I feel very sorry for the youth of today. They have missed out on a great many things due to technology.Like playing and using one's imagination.Interacting with others face to face instead of hiding behind a cell phone or a computer to say important things to one another. This is just to name a couple.

I wonder if every generation has lamented the advancements that have been made that will turn the next generation into a do nothing generation.
The generation that turned the field with sticks and a shovel then the plow came along pulled by a horse to be replaced with tractor that now has a GPS system.
The man on a horse that took a note from one coast to the other was replaced by a dot and dash thanks to Mr Morse.  That got replaced by the phone now the computer.
I think not all kids are alike and many are responsible and intelligent and will help push the next generation forward.
Let me step down from my soap box now and go brew my tea.
