In Response to Re: TODAY IS MY GRANDSON'S BIRTHDAY:
Nellie, I am so happy to hear that your Grandson is doing well and wish him a very Happy Birthday. I also have a grandson with Hemophilia. He is 18 and in college in New York. He learned when he was about your grandson's age to infuse himself with factor. (Factor 8) He has become very responsible about it and we are very proud of him. He hopes to become a chemical engineer. He calls himself a "Nerd", but when you get "A's" in college math, chemistry and physics, I'd say that is just fine!! Good Luck to your grandson, I hope he gets to follow his dreams!!

he has a aspirator at home to use for small things(within 1 hr)----because it must be refrigerated ------they can't keep it at school---------so someone has to pick him up to go home to use it--------when he was younger that was a problem-because most people don't understand the necisity after a small injury to call someone-----after 12 he was able to do that himself
at his annual check-up this year they also wanted to start him on home infusion------------but the factor here is $30,000 per unit and so far the insurance hasn't authorized it.
