my whole childhood growing up my mother was always in the kitchen making amazing food and even more amazing and extravagant desserts.  both of my brothers love to cook and ive just recently been able to acquire the proper cooking utensils to start making desserts.  ive made a couple cakes and i just got done making my first batch of nestle toll house cookies and they were amazing.  i would love any kind of advice from seasoned veterans in the baking field.  thank you in advance

Aaron, there are many delicious cookie recipes that folks have submitted to this forum.  The bakers here are generous sharing their recipes for cookies and a myriad of other categories, so it won't be long until you'll have some great recipes to try.  Welcome to the boards.

Aaron, welcome.
Is there anything in particular that you would like a recipe for or any particular information?
There are plenty of people here that have an incredible amount of information floating around their heads and we are all willing to share.
By the way if you have any recipes that you wish to share.....

Anything that works for both of you.  Experimenting is great & if he/you both don't like, there's always neighbors or shelters. Practice does improve a recipe and don't worry if it doesn't come great the first second third ninth time - it'll come.  And it doesn't have to look perfect either.  I've made some disaster looking recipes either because I rushed, didn't plate well, bottom stuck to pan but each time I was so mad or didn't want tp serve, my husabnd said they'll eat it.  Let me say that each time mish mosh looked like what I served everyone raved about it & thought that's the way it should look.  My husband & our kids love stuff that looks messy but homemade-I hate seeing their faces when I say I finally better the appearance & it's VERY hard trying to serve them the mess they like.

Always double check your recipes. Check your second hand, used goods stores, flea markets etc for cooking supplies. You will be amazed at what you find. I have a white chefs jacket and chefs hat.  Most of all Have Fun. Enjoy yourself

Welcome, Aaron.  Ask us anything and someone will come up with an answer for you.  Always read all the way through your recipe before starting anything.  Sometimes an ingredient is used in a couple different places and if you've already used it all in one place--oops!
Cookies are really hard to mess up.  Cakes are a bit more challenging, but following the recipe usually invites success.  Pie crust is tricky until you've done it several times.
Yeast things, like sweet rolls are wonderful, but again, need a little experience.  Most important things about making yeast products is to have the liquids at the right temperature (invest in a candy thermometer) and not using too much flour.  At different times the amount of flour needed varies as much as a cup.
Good luck
